Taking the kink out of the question mark?!
Get out and about, and research
The truth is we know so very little about our distant past because nothing was ever recorded for posterity. The little we do know historically has been either dug up by archaeologists or vaguely recorded in hieroglyphics. Folklore gave us some understaning of our social past albeit a distorted one because it was handed down from generation to generation by word of mouth.Today, unlike our not so distant past, we are bombarded with information and we can only try to absorb all what we see, hear or read. As human beings we query and question everything from the day we are born. Decisions are made for us during our formative years whether to eat, sleep or play, but we soon learn by experience to make choices ourselves to enrich our lives personally. When a child becomes an adult a line is drawn in the sand and there's no going back but for the memories. Writing is often drawn from life’s experiences, and our perceptions of the world over a lifetime changes like the shoes and waistline we outgrow. Only through trial and error do we realise that what we really want from life depends on others so we quickly learn to manipulate people and our surroundings. But we soon come to realise that only through collaboration and consensus can we affect real change in the world for the better, and in the process make a happier life for us all.
Winning awards in journalism
I won my award for best news story after exposing toxic waste and heavy metals being dumped unchecked into waterways by industry in Sydney, Australia. The judge, Brian Hogben, General Manager Editorial, News Limited, said my story was written in sober terms without resorting to hyperbole. "It highlighted the dangers which only came to the attention of the rest of the media in the last couple of months," he added.

“What is in a name but merely letters on a page, a stain or what vowels and consonants simply maintain. A name is just a name. It is the words which follow that give it so much acclaim.”
